Sacred & Secular

This topic covers a wide range of issues in art, history, politics, culture and social theory. We began the discussion with Asking questions like how does sacred even fit into the realm of art, and started to look at specific artists like Manet, Kandinsky, Warhol, Rikrit and Fujimura. We are currently reading through Elkin's book A Strange Place for Religion in Contemporary Art.

We will be holding a few events in conjunction with the BFA Exhibition which will include an opening performance (march 14th), a response brunch (march 15th), a Dinner event on unconscious religion(march 21st), a panel discussion on Sacred Decay (march 28th) and a closing reception/dinner event/performance on April 4th.

You may refer to the announcements page for more details and we look forward to seeing you at our various events around the Chicago area this month.
