Re-enchantment

What happened to religious meaning in contemporary art? Why is there no place in the art world for work that's openly religious? Is contemporary art full of personal spirituality, or is that a misunderstanding of modernism itself? Come join us for a panel conversation: 8 of the world's experts on religion in contemporary art will discuss the subject in a 4-hour conversation. The panelists include Thierry de Duve, Boris Groys, Gregg Bordowitz, David Morgan, Wendy Doniger, Kajri Jain, Tomoko Masuzawa, and Talory Worley. We will meet in the School of the Art Institute Ballroom at 112 South Michigan Avenue, Tuesday, April 17, at 10 AM. We will meet Monday April 2, 4:15pm and Monday April 9, 4:15pm, at 112 S.
Michigan Avenue, room 716.

On April 2 we will read the first half, and on April 9 the second half
(starting with Jain's text).

Some of these files are very large (I think the text by Kajri Jain, one
of mine are over 10 MB) so you should have a broadand connection to
download them.
